Most people are able to get back to work a few days after a dental implant surgery but they should prioritize rest for 7-10 days following the procedure. This will give the battle the time and energy it needs to properly heal. 


Smoke & Alcohol

Alcohol inhibits the immune system and slows down healing. Avoiding alcohol helps to maximize the efficiency of the body’s recovery processes. Most dentists recommend abstaining from alcohol for at least 72 hours after a dental implant procedure. 


Smoking is particularly troublesome when it comes to dental work. First off, any smoke in the mouth and lungs is detrimental to dental health. What’s worse is the suction that’s created when inhaling a cigarette, vaping or anything in that realm. That suction can easily lead to complications if it’s done too soon after dental surgery. It’s best to avoid smoking in the week following any dental surgery.
